By now, David Wolfe is busy bringing his lecture tour to other hungry superfoodies, planning spectacular raw food retreats to Peru, and probably eating a coconut straight off the branch. But there are several simple lessons from his talk last week that are sticking with me like tahini to a spoon. I give you my David Wolfe Extract – five quotations from his Fairfield talk to live and thrive by:
#1) David said the first step for moving towards health and vitality is to drink WATER – lots of it. What kind of water? “The best water that you can understand with your consciousness.”
Natural spring water is instant hydration – it moves straight to your cells and gets them wet and juicy and healthy. But most of us don’t exactly wake up beside a babbling brook each morning and only have access to regular tap water. So what should we do? We do the best that we can. Some places to start:
#2) “Chocolate is the most edible form of love.” and “Avocado is saving our ass.”
I’m combining these quotations for good reason. Cacao is a major superfood that – just like love – boosts your mood, your brain, and fills in those essential areas of your life that are lacking (in this case it’s the antioxidant and mineral department). Avocados, quite literally, are saving our bums – they send the right healthy fats to the right places and can actually help you lose weight…and c#!!^!ite.
- Recently I discovered that avocados + chocolate = magic, so if you want to feel like your skinny butt has just been swept off it’s feet in love, try this Chocomole recipe from Choosing Raw.
- Begone the days of “sneaking” avocado into smoothies and salads. Proudly let your green flag fly in unexpected places, like in this brilliant potato salad recipe from Isa Chandra.
#3) “Pharaohs are doing back-flips in their tombs“ because we have access to such amazing things! Herbs, superfoods, medicinal mushrooms, teas, berries. They don’t know what they’re missing.

#4) “It is always too early to start dying.”
Live long and prosper. Really. There’s no reason not to. Take responsibility for your life and your health now – right now.
#5) “All day, all the time, no guilt fear shame – ever.”
When we begin to take responsibility for our own wellness and health, we start to understand what we’re eating and why we’re eating it. We cut out the items that are no longer serving us, and add in all the goods that bring us closer to that live long and prosper reality. Our practice of living and eating no longer includes anything that does us harm. We are free from guilt fear shame of food and instead remember how to love honor enjoy our food.
